Adds Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md, the technical design draft for rebuilding Give as a combined GoFundMe + Kickstarter platform for Vietnam.
It covers:
Schema give on the shared DOS Supabase. All DDL ships as idempotent migrations in DOS.Me/supabase/migrations, deployed by DOS-Me CI from preview to beta to prod.
Two campaign types, kept from the old design on dev:
give (charity): flexible funding.
back (rewards): all-or-nothing, where backers pledge first and only pay after the goal is reached.
Money model: the platform never holds funds. An append-only ledger mirrors the bank statement. All money-critical logic lives in Postgres functions.
Payment channel adapters: statement import with VietQR (MVP default), PayOS, bank API, and crypto (gated on legal sign-off).
Also included: MVP milestones M0 to M4, 13 money-critical test cases, and open questions P1 to P7.
Why
main and dev still describe Strapi, Stripe and blockchain plans. The dev Stripe flow charges immediately for both campaign types, and its webhook can double-count funding because it does read-modify-write updates on a counter. The new decisions need a single written source of truth:
Vietnam market first.
No fund holding by the platform.
Shared DOS Supabase.
Reviewer notes
Docs only, no code changes.
This is a draft v0.1. Legal assumptions G1 and G2 (Decree 93/2021, crypto) and policy question P1 still need decisions.
Older docs (Platform-Architecture.md, Platform-Roadmap.md, Giveth-Ref/*) are marked as superseded inside the new doc but are not deleted.
This PR introduces a comprehensive technical design document for the "Give" platform, defining a non-custodial financial architecture using Supabase (Postgres) for atomic transaction handling and a Next.js 16 frontend. It establishes the database schema, payment channel adapters (VietQR, PayOS, Bank APIs), and a strict ledger-based system to ensure transparency and idempotency for both charitable (Give) and reward-based (Back) campaigns.

Summary of Changes
Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md
New File: Defines the v0.1 technical architecture for the Give platform. • Legacy Context: Documents inheritance from the old dev branch (campaign types, categories) while explicitly rejecting the old Stripe-based payment logic due to race conditions and non-custodial requirements. • Core Principles: Establishes that the platform does not hold funds; money goes directly to campaign organizers' accounts. All financial state changes must occur within atomic Postgres functions (SECURITY DEFINER). • Database Schema: Details the give schema, including tables for campaigns, receiving_accounts, contributions (donations/pledges), bank_transactions, and an append-only ledger_entries table. • Payment Logic: Describes the "All-or-Nothing" model for Kickstarter-style campaigns (pledge first, pay after goal met) and the flexible model for GoFundMe-style campaigns. • Adapters: Defines the TypeScript interface for payment channels (bank_api, payos, statement_import, crypto) and the deduplication pipeline for inbound events. • Milestones: Outlines MVP phases (M0-M4) from foundation to automated payment channels and reward fulfillment.
Added a Vietnamese technical design describing Give donations and reward-based Back campaigns in Vietnam, including VND payments and direct-to-recipient payouts.
Updated the design to distinguish flexible donations from all-or-nothing pledges, with payment due only after a Back campaign reaches its goal.
Documented payment flows, operational milestones, testing considerations, and open legal and product questions.
Schema `give` on the shared DOS Supabase, money flows for give (flexible)
and back (all-or-nothing, pledge-then-pay) campaigns, payment channel
adapters (statement import, PayOS, bank API, crypto), MVP milestones,
money-critical tests and open questions. Keeps the give/back campaign
types and categories from the dev branch.

Platform and campaign model Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md
Defines Vietnam and VND platform decisions, schema conventions, campaign data and states, and receiving-account verification.
Funding records and access Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md
Specifies donation and pledge records, rewards, normalized payment records, an append-only ledger, public totals, and RLS boundaries.
Money operations and campaign flows Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md
Describes transactional Postgres functions and the Give and Back flows, including payment matching, campaign outcomes, and disbursements.
Payment processing and proposed rollout Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md
Outlines payment-channel ingestion, scheduled jobs, a proposed repository layout and MVP milestones, required tests, and unresolved decisions.
This PR only adds a draft design document and changes no running behavior. The design has several money-handling gaps in account reuse, transaction direction, ledger reclassification, pledge deadlines, and statement deduplication. These should be fixed in the document before implementation begins, but they do not block merging a draft.

Review comments at @Docs/Give-Technical-Design.md:
- Around line 297-298: Update give.match_transaction to reject transactions with
direction = 'out' before contribution matching or recording unmatched_in; route
outgoing transactions to the existing disbursement handling so they are recorded
as refunded or disbursed instead.
- Line 300: Clarify the partially paid pledge outcome in the design for
give.lapse_overdue_pledges(): specify whether the received amount is refunded or
retained with a defined fulfillment entitlement, and document the corresponding
ledger treatment. Add a test that verifies the chosen outcome for an overdue
partially paid pledge.
- Around line 105-106: Update the unique receiving-account index in the design
so an account remains reserved until all expected payments are resolved,
including after a campaign becomes succeeded or closed; alternatively, specify
immutable campaign attribution for every transaction so reused accounts cannot
make transaction and disbursement reporting ambiguous.
- Around line 295-296: Update give.create_pledge and give.cancel_pledge to lock
the campaign row for each pledge mutation, serializing them with campaign
finalization. After acquiring the lock, recheck that the campaign is live and
now() is before ends_at before changing pledge quantities or ledger entries.
- Line 328: Update the guest donation flow around the Supabase Realtime
subscription to define how unauthenticated donors can read their contribution
status, using a short-lived opaque capability or a narrowly scoped status
endpoint; keep access limited to that contribution without weakening RLS.
- Line 411: Update the `statement_import` design so the fingerprint is not
treated as transaction identity: use a provider-issued row identifier when
available, and quarantine rows that lack a stable identifier and cannot be
distinguished unambiguously.
- Line 248: Update the ledger design around UNIQUE (bank_transaction_id, bucket)
to support append-only reclassification of unmatched transfers: record an
explicit reversal of unmatched_in before recording the matched received entry,
and define totals so the transfer is counted only once. Add a test covering the
transition from unmatched_in to matched.
- Line 179: Update the contribution-creation RPC or trigger around the CHECK on
kind and contributor_user_id to validate contributions against their campaign
before insertion: require kind to match the campaign type, reject guest
donations for back campaigns, and verify any reward tier belongs to that
campaign.

- Keep receiving accounts bound to one campaign until explicitly released
after settlement; stamp campaign_id on every bank transaction.
- Enforce donation/pledge vs give/back type and tier ownership via trigger.
- Add post/reversal ledger entries for reclassifying unmatched_in to
received and disbursed to refunded.
- Lock the campaign row before the tier in all pledge mutations and
recheck status and ends_at under the lock.
- Route outbound transactions to disbursements; match only inbound.
- Partially paid lapsed pledges become refund_due -> refunded.
- Give guests a hashed, expiring status token and a server-side
status endpoint.
- Stop using fingerprints as transaction identity; stage id-less
statement rows and quarantine ambiguous ones.
- Add tests 14-19.
