🎯 Changes

Solid 2 support for @tanstack/solid-store, set up as a pre-release line the way @tanstack/solid-query 6 and @tanstack/solid-router 2 were. It targets a solid-v2-pre branch, so main stays on Solid 1.

  • useSelector (with useAtom, useStore and _useStore built on it) needs no API change. Its signal is written with ownedWrite, because store notifications can fire inside owned scopes such as effects. A selected function is kept as a plain value, since Solid 2's createSignal(fn) would otherwise treat it as a compute function.
  • createStoreContext's StoreProvider renders the Solid 2 context with createComponent instead of JSX, so the package peers only on solid-js (>=2.0.0-rc.19 <3.0.0) and not on @solidjs/web. The context now uses a null default, so the existing "Missing StoreProvider" error still fires instead of Solid 2's own ContextNotFoundError.
  • The tests call flush() after writes, because Solid 2 batches reads until the next flush. There is a new test for a selected function value.
  • The five Solid examples move to @solidjs/web, @solidjs/vite-plugin and the @solidjs/web JSX import source.
  • Changesets enters pre mode with the rc tag, and the release workflow also runs on *-pre branches. solid-store gets a minor bump (0.x), giving 0.12.0-rc.0. The installation docs now say which versions go with which Solid major.
  • sherif ignores solid-js, because the core package's comparison benchmark stays on Solid 1.

Locally: @tanstack/solid-store tests (37/37), type checks on TS 5.6–6.0, eslint, publint, build, sherif, knip, and tsc && vite build for every Solid example. I also loaded the built store-context example in Chromium and checked that it updates on click with no console errors.

🚀 Release Impact

  • This change affects published code, and I have generated a changeset.
  • This change is docs/CI/dev-only (no release).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added Solid 2 support to @tanstack/solid-store 0.12 and later. Solid 1 users should continue using version 0.11.
    • Existing store hooks and context support work with Solid 2. Out-of-scope writes are reflected after the next flush or microtask.
  • Documentation

    • Updated installation guidance with Solid 1 and Solid 2 version compatibility.

Port @tanstack/solid-store and the Solid examples to solid-js 2.0
(rc.19+): useSelector writes its signal with ownedWrite (store
notifications can fire inside owned scopes) and keeps selected
functions as plain values; createStoreContext renders the Solid 2
context without JSX, so the adapter only peers on solid-js. Tests flush
after writes, matching Solid 2's batched reads.

Enters changesets pre mode (rc) and lets the release workflow run on
*-pre branches, as TanStack Query and Router do for their Solid 2 lines.
The core store's comparison benchmark stays on Solid 1 while
@tanstack/solid-store moves to Solid 2.

Walkthrough

The Solid store adapter and its examples now target Solid 2 release candidates. The changes also update adapter tests, installation guidance, and release configuration.

Changes: Solid 2 support

Layer / File(s) Summary
Adapter runtime and package setup
packages/solid-store/package.json, packages/solid-store/src/createStoreContext.ts, packages/solid-store/src/useSelector.ts, packages/solid-store/tsconfig*.json, packages/solid-store/tsdown.config.ts, packages/solid-store/vitest.config.ts
The adapter peer dependency now accepts solid-js versions >=2.0.0-rc.19 <3.0.0. The context provider uses createComponent with getter-backed props and a null context default. useSelector wraps an initial function value and enables ownedWrite.
Adapter tests
packages/solid-store/tests/index.test.tsx
Tests flush reactive updates before assertions. A new test checks that useSelector returns a selected function as the same value.
Examples and release guidance
examples/solid/*/{package.json,src/index.tsx,tsconfig.json,vite.config.ts}, docs/installation.md, .changeset/*, .github/workflows/release.yml, package.json
The Solid examples use Solid 2 release-candidate packages, the @solidjs/web renderer, and the @solidjs/vite-plugin plugin. Installation guidance distinguishes Solid 2 and Solid 1 package versions. The changeset enables rc prerelease mode, and the release workflow includes *-pre branches.

The Solid examples cannot be installed on their own because they still pin the Solid 1 adapter. The installation docs also send Solid 2 users to the Solid 1 adapter while the release is a prerelease. Library behavior is not affected, but fix the example dependency ranges and the install command before merging.

TanStack Store is compatible with Solid and SolidStart.
`@tanstack/solid-store` 0.12 and later work with Solid 2. For Solid 1, install `@tanstack/solid-store@0.11`.

Point Solid 2 users to the rc tag.

While prerelease mode is active, npm install @tanstack/solid-store resolves to the latest tag, which stays on the Solid 1 line (0.11.x). Changesets publishes prereleases under the dist-tag set in .changeset/pre.json, which is rc. Solid 2 users who follow this command get the 0.11 adapter. Add the rc install command for Solid 2 users until the stable 0.12 release is promoted to latest.

Update the adapter dependency in all five examples.

The examples declare @tanstack/solid-store: ^0.11.2, but the workspace links the local Solid 2 adapter. A standalone npm install resolves the published 0.11.x adapter, which targets Solid 1, and can fail against solid-js: ^2.0.0-rc.19. Use the Solid 2-compatible adapter release in each example.
