Add xImage reconstruction to the shared cuPhoton CLI - #127
Registered frames with known PSFs and noise variances can now be reconstructed through cuphoton ximage. This adds CPU/CUDA L2 and robust reconstruction, separate PSF calibration, evaluation, run artifacts, and deterministic examples. Raw and calibrated PSFs share one point-source-image convention; saved kernels retain frame alignment.
Generic metrics live in cuphoton.ximage.metrics; survey photometry and catalog projection live beside the Rubin adapter. The guide states the registration, PSF, intensity, and noise assumptions and labels extensions beyond ImageMM experimental.
Validation: 468 CPU checks pass with 17 CUDA cases tested separately; the focused backend/preprocessing/robust suite passes all 116 cases. Independent asymmetric-PSF scene recovery and both calibration methods pass on CPU and CUDA. Repository hooks and source packaging pass.

Assert the exact exit code when --require-ok fails.
test_data_validate_uses_shared_command_error_path expects 1 for a CommandError. This test raises the same error type. rc != 0 would also pass for a usage error or a crash. Assert 1.
✅ Proposed fix
- assert rc != 0+ assert rc == 1
Based on learnings: assert the exact expected exit code so tests document the CLI contract and catch wrong error categories.

Update the `--require-ok` failure assertion in `test_cli` to require exit code 1
instead of accepting any nonzero code. Keep the assertion aligned with the
expected `CommandError` CLI contract.

For robust scales, #127 validates the schedule endpoints once in the configured CPU dtype (4784d0d); the low-level tensor helpers document caller preconditions (8e9399a). This deliberately avoids synchronizing GPU loss/weight kernels on every call.

Please review the final correction in 24a5a68, after reviewed head 4784d0d. It rejects false-valued non-mapping YAML documents and projects Parquet catalog coordinates onto the same reference-store grid as reprojected coadds. Please review bb20a52 after reviewed head 24a5a68. It addresses the remaining coordinate-frame finding by removing silent direct-crop fallback for explicitly reference-aligned stores: that fallback would compare an unaligned coadd to a reference-grid restoration. Missing reference FITS/ROI/WCS inputs now produce a clear error, documented in the guide; generic stores keep direct cropping. The adjacent omitted-center projection now matches the stored ROI midpoint. Synthetic regressions demonstrate both corrections; 3,419 CPU tests, 17 CUDA tests, and repository hooks pass. Keep recommendations within xImage public-inclusion and correctness scope.

Please review aa3cefc, focusing on the appended CPU-run-summary correction in that commit: an unavailable cuDNN benchmark limit remains null instead of raising during integer conversion. The three regression cases cover null, zero and positive limits. Earlier owning implementation patches are preserved through the restack, apart from CLI-count reconciliation. Keep review within the existing xImage correctness scope.

The L2 and Huber updates match the ImageMM paper, and the batching, tiling, and saved-PSF tests pass on CPU at the top of the stack (torch 2.13.0 and 2.15.0). CUDA checks were not run. Two things to fix before merge: bundle PSFs are applied rotated by 180°, and no test checks that a reconstruction recovers a known scene. I'd also like the guide to present xImage as general multi-frame deconvolution, with Rubin as one adapter.
Add CPU and CUDA reconstruction, separate PSF calibration, evaluation,
and run artifacts through the shared CLI and distribution. Document
input conventions and provide synthetic examples for each workflow.
