- Line 503: Move the OMNIUI_BACKEND default out of
OwnedDesktopMirrorWorker._run() to an application-thread preparation hook on
OwnedDesktopMirror, and invoke that hook from OvxrSession.start() immediately
before starting the OVXR worker. Keep the setdefault behavior and update the
test that currently expects a direct _run() call to set the environment
variable.

This fence only proves OVUI finished reading gpu.pointer if set_bytes_data_from_gpu copies synchronously or on the legacy stream of gpu.device. If OVUI copies on its own non-blocking stream, through Vulkan, or as a peer copy queued on the display device, the image is released while OVUI may still be reading it, and the render thread can immediately reuse that slot with cudaMemcpy2DFromArrayAsync, giving torn frames. Can you point to OVUI 0.3.0's contract for this (or use a completion fence OVUI exposes)? The comment at release() states it as given.

Race with render-thread close(): record_host_frame, set_status_text and status check self._worker is not None and then dereference it, while close() sets self._worker = None on the render thread. A host loop that is still calling record_host_frame() can get AttributeError: 'NoneType'. That window is reachable when the worker retires without waiting for _borrowers_quiesced (startup failure before handles were exposed). Read self._worker into a local once in each method.
Description
Add an optional OVUI desktop mirror for OVXR sessions. Applications select completed eye/camera products with
MirrorProduct, set an update limit and supply status text. The most recent image remains visible between updates; closing the window requests application shutdown.OwnedDesktopMirrorimplements the sharedOvxrFrameConsumerfrom #1295. Selection, bounded owned image copies and UI-worker lifetime stay in the mirror component. PiP and mirror are independent; mirrored eyes exclude separately submitted PiP layers, while camera feeds can be selected directly. The mirror uses OVUI's default Vulkan backend. Neither Isaac Capture nor the matching Lab adapter changes
OMNIUI_BACKEND; an active non-Vulkan backend is rejected clearly. Obsolete OpenGL/GLX discovery, swap-interval and cross-device copy code is removed. CUDA completion checks preserve the UI's import device during uploads and teardown. The optional
desktop-mirrorextra installs OVUI separately and requires Python 3.12+, CUDA 13 bindings, a compatible NVIDIA driver and a usable GPU-backed desktop. Core Isaac Capture retains Python 3.11 support. Release-wheel validation checks the mirror modules as well as the native PiP helper.Testing
Linux x86-64, Python 3.12; matching Lab adapter in #8790, inherited by #8791.
Remote release CI, arm64 and a new physical-headset run remain unverified. Cold attach, intermittent first-Play recovery and SO101 cube retention remain open. Local full docs rendering lacks the NVIDIA Sphinx theme; reference checks pass.
Rebased onto
mainata0a06c7d: 205 consumer tests and 149 Lab adapter/camera tests passed, along with CI-equivalent pre-commit. The reviewed feature delta is preserved; release validation now retains upstream license/SBOM and finished-wheel import checks before camera/mirror verification and upload. Tests reused existing native binaries; a fresh build against updated upstream, release-wheel CI, and new IWER/headset/performance qualification remain unverified.Checklist
